Seamus fixed my car!

So, the kids have been taking turns getting sick. It was Seamus’ turn, so on Friday, I got the dreaded call and went to pick him up. I have to say, it’s a good thing that the daycare is like an hour away, because I was just about ready to throw a temper tantrum at someone. But…I calmed down, and got Seamus out of the Director’s office where he was sleeping (I had asked them if I could wait to pick him up until 2, when nap time was over, but that was shot down, and I had to be there by like 12:30). He was sick, and took a nap at home (even though he weakly said he didn’t want to, although I think his eyes were rolling up in his head by the time I left the room).

So, this weekend, we had a whiny Seamus (but hey…at least Ciara was better, eh?) This kid is completely into Veggie Tales now. We have 4 DVD’s, and I think I can repeat most of them word-for-word at this point. Saturday, we drove all the way across town, and ended up at Paradise Bakery for lunch. There IS one about 10 minutes from our house, and I actually think the sandwiches were almost a dollar cheaper each, but this way, at least the kids napped (and at the same time). I think Ciara ate more of the PB&J than Seamus did…and just to show you how he was feeling, he didn’t even want all of his cookie. He didn’t eat too much this weekend, and his teachers said he didn’t eat lunch yesterday, although he said he did. Sunday, we went to church, and we went to get subs afterwards. I don’t think either kid wanted their sub. Yesterday, I picked up Seamus at 2…I got there while he was still napping, and just talked with the teachers until he woke up. Then, we went to Target to find some jean shorts for Mike. Seamus just HAD to have a snack first (and told me EXACTLY where to go in Target to get that snack…’over THERE, Mommy!’), so we got a snack before shopping. I got him the PB&J kids meal, which came with a Target brand Uncrustables. He really wolfed that down…wanted some of my popcorn too (but it was VERY salty, so he didn’t get much). We did some shopping, and then he told me it was time to leave RIGHT NOW, so that was pretty much my cue to head to the checkout. He wanted to put my card in the machine, so I let him. We got home and he wanted to…wait for it…watch Veggie Tales!

So, I got my car’s registration sticker, and I had forgotten to put it on the car. I decided to do it yesterday, and I asked Seamus if he wanted to help me. He, of course, said yes, so I headed outside, and then had to go back in to get a Phillips head screwdriver (the sticker goes on the license plate, and I had to get the holder off first). I unscrewed the screws holding on the license plate and holder, and told Seamus to HOLD them and NOT drop them (those of you with kids can probably see where this is going). Well, I get both out, and get the plate out of the holder so I can put the new sticker on, and then get the plate back in the holder. I ask Seamus for the screws to affix the plate and holder back onto the car, and he only has one. We spent some time looking for the other one (which I did find)…I asked him where he dropped it, and I get the ‘I don’t know’ shrug from him. So, I did find it on the rocks, and I let Seamus hold the screwdriver while I turned it, and we got everything back to where it was supposed to go. He then is all happy, saying ‘I fixed Mommy’s car!’ He was pretty happy about it.

This morning, he woke up around 2:30, wanting to go to the bathroom. I took him (he didn’t go, though), and then…oh gosh, wait for it….wanted to watch Veggie Tales! I said no to that one, and he sure didn’t like it. After a while, we (Mike had woken up during the crying in the bathroom…Seamus, not me) got him back to bed. I couldn’t fall asleep (my back was hurting, although I didn’t do anything to it…I just couldn’t get comfy again), and when Seamus woke up somewhere around 4:30, I was still awake. Mike got him dressed, and I got me dressed. Then, I woke Ciara up (Mike has to ride the motorcycle to work…he has to take it to the shop), and got her dressed in a really cute yellow shirt with a big pink flower on the front.

There really wasn’t any other drama this morning…Ciara tried to chew on a plastic dinosaur at the daycare (guess it tasted good?), and Seamus blew raspberries on my cheek when I said goodbye to him.

I do have one picture of Ciara from this weekend:

It’s of her enjoying her cookie at Paradise Bakery. Seamus might not have eaten all the cookie we gave him, but Ciara sure did. Come to think of it, she’s been finishing his meals for a few days, too.
