OK, so my 10 am meeting got postponed until 10:30 (I’d like it to be postponed until next week…that’d be nice)!
So, this weekend, my mom has been out here, which is good, because Mike is in North Carolina out watching basketball. I picked my mom up on Friday from the airport, and then we went to Pei Wei, which is sort of like fast-food PF Chang’s (so much better than take-out Chinese, but like PF Change without the ambience or the puffed-up prices). While we were there, the daycare called because Seamus was running a fever (he was acting sick when we got home, and he went to bed just before I left to go get Ciara from daycare). So, they didn’t get to go to Miss Tammy’s while we went out to dinner, and we didn’t get to go out to dinner like we had planned. I went and picked up something, but I can’t remember what it was.
Saturday, I met my uncle, but it didn’t go so well because it was later in the day, and the kids (and that dog!) were acting up. It was not a good first impression, and I’m sure I impressed no one. I got myself a Chipotle burrito for dinner after the kids went to bed, and I think my mom had cereal. We did get to go to Claim Jumper for lunch with the kids, who ate nothing but red grapes. BOTH of them! Ciara didn’t want the complimentary baby plate, and Seamus got the mac and cheese with corn and grapes as sides, and I’m not kidding…all they wanted were the grapes. A very nice manager brought me some red grapes when I asked if I could trade in the green ones (which they wouldn’t eat) for the red ones. We could have just sat at a table at the grocery store and bought a bag of red grapes for them…oh well.
Yesterday, my mom made French Toast (with cinnamon that she brought with her all the way from Rochester…I guess we don’t have the right kind here??), which the kids liked (me too…someone else made it!). The kids and I went to church, but I took them to a different church, since Radiant was having service at the stadium, and I just didn’t want to deal with it (no childcare, active kids, sitting in one place for an hour, no food, etc.), so I took the kids to Parkway Christian Church in Surprise. I liked it (and actually ran into someone I know from work), and may go back there. I asked Seamus if he liked it, and he said yes, and I asked him if he had fun, and he said yes. He had his art projects that he had made, and also a list for the week of an activity each day that seemed to go with a theme. It looked like each activity had something to do with self-control. So, we’ll do those, I guess. This church reminded me a lot of Anchor, back in Rochester. It was informal like Radiant, but the setting looked more like Anchor to me.
We left church, picked up mom, and then drove (the kids conked out in the back seat). We ate in the car at a McDonalds, then Mom took Seamus into Safeway to get granola bars (but she left with a cart full of stuff…not sure how that happened). After a while, Ciara was getting antsy in the car, so I took her in too. It was funny…Seamus saw me before Mom did, and he kept looking over Mom’s shoulder, where I was walking behind her trying to catch up. Mom said he was very good in the store, and he seemed to be when I was there.
After we got home, unloaded the groceries, and had a snack, we went looking for the Easter eggs. That’s the long video I took. Mom hid the eggs in plain sight for the kids, and Seamus and Ciara went hunting for them. Seamus only wanted the pink basket, and when he found ½ of the eggs (there were 24), I made him stop so Ciara and him were even. Last night, I had the leftover mac and cheese from Claim Jumper (hey…that’s good food!) mixed with the corn (also from Claim Jumper)…turned out good, and watched some Law and Order (since when did the attorney guy that has been on there forever become the DA? I guess that’s what happens when I watch the re-runs on TNT instead of the original episodes on NBC).
This morning, I am glad to be back at work…I’ll be picking up Mike tonight at the airport. What will probably happen is that I will put Ciara to bed, Mom will stay at home, and I’ll take Seamus with me to the airport. He’ll like seeing Daddy (if he’s not sleeping in the car!).
